    Please visit The Big Magoo's sister site, Coyote Dunes, for golfing.

  • What is your email policy?

    We do not send out email promotions to members. We also do not forward user messages via email. All user and system messages are processed using our internal messaging system. The only emails sent are in response to public ad queries, which do not include a valid return address. This may change in the future, but all users will be notified prior to any policy changes.

  • Your website is broken...

    Please contact us with the a description of the website problem, along with the URL in question, and we will fix it asap.

  • One of your site users has posted my copyrighted material on your site...

    Per our Terms of Service, we do not condone posting of third part copyrighted material without the copyright holder's permission. If you believe this has occured, please contact us with the an identification of the content in question and will remove the content in accordance with DMCA rules. Please include contact information in case questions arise.

  • I'm getting spam messages...

    If you are getting alot of spam messages, something is broken and needs to be fixed. Please contact us with the a copy of the spam message, and we will fix the problem asap.

  • One of the other Big Magoo members is harassing me...

    All Big Magoo members are required to adhere to our Terms of Service, which bars inappropiate behavior. Please contact us with the member's name and a description of the problem. You may send the message anonymously by including DoNotReply@thebigmagoo.com in thr "From" field.

  • A button you describe here doesn't work or is missing...

    Some functionality requires the user to be a site member and logged into Facebook (such as, adding to favorites, viewing trip details, uploading resort pictures or videos, etc). If your are not a logged in site member, some content is not rendered or disabled.

Ski Resorts

  • Your resort information doesn't seem correct...

    We make every effort to insure the resort information in our listings are accurate, but some information may be dated due to our limited resources. Please visit the resort's website for the latest and most accurate information. You can also contact us with updated resort information.

  • Why can't I find my resort in your listings?

    Resort listings are never complete. If there is a resort you are interested that is not listed on our site, please contact us with the name, location and URL of the resort website. We will make every effort to include the resort in our listings.

  • What does "Difficulty within Class" mean when rating slopes?

    Different resorts classify beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert slopes differently. There is also different degrees of beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert slopes. So, for a beginner slopes, is this an easy beginner slope or a hard beginner slope? Etc.

  • What does "Recommendation" mean when rating slopes?

    How much you like that particular slope, regardless of difficulty.

  • How do I upload ski resort photos?

    Under the ski resort listings, there is either a "Add Photo" icon or a thumbnail of the first ski resort photo. Selecting this brings up the ski resort's photos page. Below the ski resort photos is an "Upload Photo" button.

  • Are the ski resort photos I upload stored under my member account?

    Ski resort photos (as opposed to member photos) are stored under a common directory and considered part of the community, as no member information is stored with them. Therefore, all ski resort photos you upload will continue to reside on The Big Magoo even if your user account terminates.

  • Who can view/upload ski resort photos?

    The general public can view ski resort photos. Only members of Big Magoo are allowed to upload ski resort photos.

The Gazette

  • Who writes the Gazette?

    The Gazette is authored by members of the Baldy Beanbag staff

  • How often is the Gazette published?

    Issues of the Gazette are published sporadically (whenever we get an excuse to visit a new resort).

Gear & Travel Stores

  • How are you affiliated with the Gear/Travel stores?

    The gear and travel stores are provided by our third party partners. We recieve a small commission on each sale, which is used to offset the cost of running this site. All content and sales transactions are handled by our partners.

Want Ads

  • How do I post a Want Ad?

    After you sign in as a member, go to your "My Page" user page. Select the "My Ads" tab on the top right side of the page. The last row of tabbed area has a "Create New Ad" link.

  • How do I extend my Want Ad?

    Your want ad will automatically be deleted after it expires. To extend the experiation date of your ad, sign in as a member and go to your "My Page" user page. Select the "My Ads" tab on the top right side of the page. The select the ad from the list in the tabbed area and press 'Renew". The ad will be extended for another 30 days from today.

  • How do I cancel my Want Ad?

    To cancel your ad before the experiation date, sign in as a member and go to your "My Page" user page. Select the "My Ads" tab on the top right side of the page. The select the ad from the list in the tabbed area and press 'Cancel". The ad will be deleted from the want ad listings.

  • How do I change my Want Ad?

    Want ads cannot be modified. If you wish to do so, cancel the old ad and create a new one.

  • Can the general public (non site members) answer my want ad?

    Yes. Want ads are the one place in the site where the general public can contact site members. This is done using the internal messaging system, not through direct email. This part of the messaging system is designed to mitigate unwanted messages. Please contact us if you start recieving a series of unwanted messages.

  • Will I recieve emails when someone inquires about my ad?

    No. Site messages ar not emailed to you or posted to your Facebook page. If you place an ad, please check your user messages regularly.

Group Trips

  • Who organizes the Group Trips?

    Group trips are organized by and between site members. Baldy Beanbag does not organize or endorse any trips, although staff members may do so.

  • Can the general public join a Group Trip?

    All Group Trips are only open to Big Magoo members (or only your friends, if set up that way).

  • How do I create a new Group Trip?

    After you sign in as a member, go to your "My Page" user page. Select the "My Trips" tab on the top right side of the page. The last row of tabbed area has a "Create New Trip" link.

  • I don't know all the details for the Group Trip. Can I create one anyway?

    Yes. Just create the trip, filling in what you know and leave the rest "TBD". You will find your new trip liste on your My Page under "My Trips" tab on the top right side of the page. Select your trip and press the "Edit" button when you need to update the trip page.

  • What is the difference between "Open to Friends" and "Open to All"? Can the general public join my trip?

    Trips marked "Open to Friends" are only open to Big Magoo friends of the organizer. Trips marked "Open to All" are open to any Big Magoo member.

  • My Group Trip will go to a resort that isn't listed on your site. What should I do?

    If there is a resort you wish to include in the trip, but it is not listed on our site, simply identify it in the trip description or the additional information section.

  • How do I handle trip expenses?

    Make sure there is a clear understanding of what costs are involved and what you must pay for, especially if strangers are involved.

  • When I update the Group Trip, will the members be notified?

    No. Please send a message to all trip members if necessary.

  • I tried to join a trip, but there is no "Join" button...

    There are four reasons for a missing "Join" button:

    1. The trip is full (should state so) or the deadline to join has passed,
    2. The trip is only open to friends of the organizer (should state so),
    3. You are already a member of the trip, or
    4. You are the organizer of the trip.

  • I pressed "Join" for the trip and filled out the message box, but nothing happened.

    The trip organizer must approve all trip members. A message will be sent to the organizer requesting approval. Upon the organizer's approval, you become a member of the trip.

  • How do I contact the trip organizer?

    Select the Group Trip under the under "My Trips" tab on your My Page page. On the trip page are two ways to contact the organizer: 1) use the "contact info" under the group trip detail or 2) press the "Send to Org" button.

  • How do I contact trip members?

    To send a message to the entire group, select the Group Trip under the under "My Trips" tab on your My Page page and press the "Send to All" button. You can also reply to the sender of a trip message. You currently cannot initiate a message to a particular trip member.

  • Can I leave a trip after joining it?

    Yes. Select the Group Trip under the under "My Trips" tab on your My Page page and press the "Leave" button. You will be removed from the member list and a generic message will be sent to the organizer. To re-join the trip, you must go through the same approval process as before.

  • Can I cancel a trip?

    Yes. Select the Group Trip under the under "My Trips" tab on your My Page page and press the "Delete" button. A message will be sent to all trip members that the trip was canceled. Since a generic message is sent, you should send an explaination as to why the trip is being canceled before deleting it.

YouTube Videos

  • Are the videos I upload stored under my member account?

    We do not store videos under individual user's accounts on YouTube. They are all stored together under a single Baldy Beanbag YouTube account. Therefore, all videos you upload will continue to reside on YouTube even if your user account terminates.

  • Can I upload any video?

    You must either own the copyright to the video or have permission from the copyright owner in order to upload a video. By uploading the video, you are giving Baldy Beanbag the right to use the video in any manner.

  • I really want to keep the video under my own YouTube account...

    If you do not wish to give Baldy Beanbag rights to your video, you can always upload the video to your private YouTube account, perform a video search on this site and select your video as one of your favorites.

  • What are the YouTube rules for uploading a video?

    The rules regarding uploading videos to YouTube can be found under the YouTube Terms of Service.

  • Any more information?

My Page

  • I don't have a Facebook account. Can I still become a member of this site?

    You must have a Facebook account in order to create an account on this site. In this way we never need to access or store your account passwords.

  • After I connect using Facebook, what Facebook features do you support?

    On Facebook, you can publish ski/snowboard reports (via Share button) and view our minimal application canvas page. We also have a fan page at The Big Magoo

  • How do I sign up for a Big Magoo account?

    On the Big Magoo site, if you click the Facebook login button or click the "My page" menu item, you will be prompted by Facebook to connect. Accepting the connect will create a new Big Magoo account.

  • I signed up for a Big Magoo account, but none, or only some, of my Facebook friends are listed. Why?

    Only Facebook friends that have also joined Big Magoo will be listed. Facebook friends who are non-members of Big Magoo are considered members of the general public and will not be able to view your profile, photos, etc.

  • How do I invite my Facebook friends to join Big Magoo?

    On your My Page page, there is a menu item called "Friends". At the bottom of that page is a button called "Invite Page", which will bring up a dialog to invite Facebook friends who are not a member of The Big Magoo.

  • Can I choose which Facebook friends are my friends on Big Magoo? Can I choose Big Magoo members to be friends who are not my Facebook friends?

    No, that functionality is not currently implemented.

  • Who will be able to view information (profile, photos, favorites, one liner, etc) I provide under my Big Magoo account?

    Except as noted below, only members of Big Magoo who are also your Facebook friends will be able to view your Big Magoo information. Facebook friends who are not on Big Magoo will be able to see snow reports and one liners, if you select to post them to Facebook.

  • Is there any information I provide that is viewable by the general public? By Big Magoo members that are not my friends?

    Want ads and group trip listings (but not details) are viewable by the general public (even non-members of Big Magoo). Be careful that no private information is contained in want ads or the group trip name. Big Magoo members that are not on your friend list can still view group trip details and join trips open to everyone. All trip members can view the organizer contact information and exchange messages with trip members.

  • What does the "Post to FB" checkboxs mean?

    If checked, your snow report or one line message will be posted to your Facebook account. If not checked, your snow report or one line message will only be viewable by your friends on Big Magoo.

  • How do I upload photos to my Big Magoo account?

    On your My Page page, there is an "Upload Photo" button above the photos slider.

  • What are the limits on uploading photos to my account?

    Users can upload up to 50 photos. Each photo can be up to 25 Megabyte in size. As with videos, you must either own the copyright or have permission from the copyright owner to upload a video. Unlike videos, all photos are stored under your user account and will be deleted if you close your account.

  • How do I close my Big Magoo account?

    On Facebook, under Settings/Application Settings, is a line called "The Big Magoo". Clicking the "x" while prompt you to remove the connect application, resulting in deleting your Big Magoo account.

  • What happens when I close Big Magoo account?

    Several things happen:

    1. Your personal information (profile, photos, favorites, one liner, etc) is deleted on The Big Magoo,
    2. You are no longer listed under friend lists for your Big Magoo friends,
    3. Your inbox messages are deleted,
    4. Any created want ads or group trips are canceled,
    5. You are removed from any group trips you joined, and
    6. The Big Magoo no longer has access to your Facebook information or account.

    These actions are done to conform to our Privacy Policy and the Facebook Privacy Policy. The only information not deleted are any videos or ski resort files uploaded to The Big Magoo common areas, messages to other Big Magoo members and any ski resort ratings you provide.

  • How do I recover my Big Magoo account if I accidently closed it?

    A Big Magoo account cannot be recovered after it has been closed, as all information pertaining to the account has been deleted per our Privacy Policy. The only option is to create a new account

Favorites

  • How do I add a video to my favorites list?

    Under "YouTube Videos", the "Now Showing" info box contains data about the currently selected video. The "Add to Favs" button below this data is used to add the video to your favorites.

  • How do I add a photo to my favorites list?

    Any photo you upload under your Big Magoo account is automatically added to your favorites.

  • How do I add a resort to my favorites list?

    Under the ski resort listings, there is a "Add Fav" icon for each resort. Pressing the icon will add the resort to your favorites list and change the icon to "My Fav".

  • How do I delete from my my favorites list a resort, video or photo?

    Select "Favs" under your My Page page. Clicking the "x" next to any resort, video or photo will remove it from you favorites. Changes are not updated until you press the "Save Changes" button.

  • How many favorite videos can I select?

    Users can select up to 12 favorite videos. After the 12th video is selected, the oldest video is deselected. You can also deselect videos through your profile. If less than 12 videos are selected, featured videos are filled into the upper right video bar until 12 are viewable.

  • There are always 12 videos on my video bar, even if I choose less. How do I know which are my favorites?

    User favorite videos are outlined in blue and featured videos are outlined in black in the video bar.
